Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
