LA Erupts in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Second World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Supporters across the globe united with local residents in jubilation, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Enormous Turnout
Los Angeles area events featured a downtown parade on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many carrying handmade banners and team flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, raising the championship trophy high.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an translator.
The procession path concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and Ice Cube driving a light blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off flares in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke plainly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. This city means everything to me.”
Varied Responses and Community Spirit
However, the team owner was met with a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict Walter walking onstage to a combination of cheers and boos, with jeers punctuating his speech.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year showed as much if not more enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
