Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The motive of the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested are in custody, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the building managing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, as per local media.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement stated.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have have information to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their destination," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were ready to speak about. This is a devastating blow."

In a release, the channel he worked for said Stock was known for his charisma, warmth and quick humor, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
