Recent Information Emerge About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates quoting a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
Additionally pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
