The midfielder Deliveries on corner kicks and set-plays created chances. Was given freedom to move down the left flank but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Awarded a deserved rest after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Played in a forward position down the right and also did plenty of the hard yards. Showed moments of class but dragged an effort wide. Replaced late on by a teammate, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Was presented with England’s best chance of the first half, his shot smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate staying deep, he was forced to offer an outlet out wide although his balls from wide areas were inconsistent. Substituted with 15 to go. 6

The captain The decisive figure scoring 77th and 78th strikes in an England shirt. His first a classic poacher’s finish while the second an excellent headed goal having drifted away off his defender. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and England have every chance next summer with him leading the line. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in by Bellingham however Strakosha made the save. Rashford had a greater effect when substituted. Five
