The Grisly Animated Movie Conclusion That Haunts Audiences
Among every adult-oriented animated films I’ve personally viewed, nothing has lingered in my mind as much as the terror-laced finale of a viscerally violent and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in the year 2015, the Spanish writer-director created a dark, melancholy and frequently brutal world with a few small , forlorn twinges of optimism.
While The Unicorn Wars appears as it came from a drive to advance animation further, the filmmaker stated that it was actually a try to convey a global, cross-cultural theme about “the common origin of each battle.”
That idea is expressed by means of a band of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a popular line of cuddly characters.
Growing up in a culture focused on warmongering and the war machine, many of these animals are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, due to a sacred text which states the bears they were once rulers of the woods, until the horned beings drove them out.

For one notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the war with unicorns transforms into a road toward dominance — and specifically to dominance above his softer, nicer brother Tubby.
Bluey behaves aggressively , an apparent sociopath , and as terror overcomes his group and claims his teammates individually, he grabs more and more influence personally, in increasingly gory, damaging approaches.
At the same time, the horned creatures are suffering their own nightmare, as a spreading, deadly beast in their habitat.
“At the beginning, it appears as a humorous movie,” the filmmaker said. “However it evolves into a more intense and melancholic film. And ultimately, it becomes a scary feature.”
The Unicorn Wars commences similar to one of the more whimsical films by a renowned animator, that uncover a mischievous joy in allowing drawn beings swear, engage in violence, or sex each other up.
Afterward it becomes something more like a bleaker movie from that artist, featuring progressively graphic violence and a noticeable link to the actual horror of conflict.
In the finale, it is an outright Grand Guignol carnage.
The terror that makes this a perfect Halloween watch kicks in well before than one might expect.
Unicorn Wars is ideal for the most dedicated fans of gore, for lovers of graphic films who wish to watch something they have not watched previously, and who can handle a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.
