The Evolution of a Cult tends to be characterized by clear stages.

1. The Core Concept

An inspiring figure or leaders propose a revolutionary approach pledging a panacea for disconnected individuals.

And so it goes. Plans are in motion to confront the system in Australia. Tensions are rising. Signs of trouble appear from the out-houses. It’s the opener still being allowed to talk in press conferences, appearing as a happy little woodland creature smartly dressed, saying stuff like we’re challenging norms. And yes, the vibe, for a significant period, was only good energy.

3. Expansion Period

Building period. Cohesion maintained by rote learning of mantras. These principles are often illogical to prove commitment.

Is it just me? The criticism, the outrage, the sense of betrayal post-defeat feels overblown, overdone. England batted badly during the match, as they often do in Australia. Attempting to break free, to foster positivity, they are mirroring their own experience, creating another a bubble, a limited community, but doing it this time with 15 cool guys and a mentor promoting authenticity as long as yourself is quite a lot like myself.
